Alexandre Desplat has become the go-to composer for Wes Anderson, and won his first Oscar for ‘The Grand Budapest Hotel’. For this 2018 Japan-themed offering, he used a lot of percussion and male choir to create a pervasive mood throughout the film. This tense potential poisoning scene is a perfect example.
Written and Directed by Wes Anderson, with Roman Coppola, Jason Schwartzman and Kunichi Nomura also contributing to the story. Starring Bryan Cranston, Koyu Rankin, Edward Norton, Jeff Goldblum, Bill Murray, Tilda Swinton, Greta Gerwig, Bob Balaban, Scarlett Johansson, Frances McDorman, Harvey Keitel, F. Murray Abraham, Ken Watanabe, Liev Schreiber and Yoko Ono. Music by Alexandre Desplat, perfomed by the London Symphony Orchestra.
